2.1.5 – Iterations

Work Priority

Production Tasks

1 – ADMIN
To make sure we are doing what needs to be done, and that we are allowed and paid for it. Resource management.

2 – MANAGEMENT
That we have all the information that is needed to tackle the project, and we inform who ever is involved

3 – DESIGN & DOCUMENTATION
Then we can design and document

Design and Documentation Tasks

1 – LAYOUT
So we can print at any point -> we can received feedback

2 – DESIGN
So we can test ideas, and validate the path

3 – MODELLING

a. Systems (Walls, Floor, Openings…)

b. Products (FFE and Materials)

c. Entourage (Context, Proxies)

4 – ANNOTATION
So it is prepared to be shared externally

Best Practices

GOT TOOLS?

If you do not have a PDF editor, Ideally blue beam, get one asap. Make suru you have access to server, understand the conventions and internal standards and have revit and autocad setup properly

PRINT

If there is no supporting PDF to do markups we can’t help you

FOLLOW THE ORDER

Layout -> Design -> Modelling (Systems -> Products) -> Annotate

DONE & PENDING
Be very clear of what is Done, by Highlighting in Green, and What is pending with comments in organce. It is more important for a manager to know what is the current progress status than the work itself. so be very clear of what have you achieved and what haven’t you completed yet.

QUESTIONS
Ask, Ask, Ask…. but in batches. Have a notebook next to you and when you have a 1:1 ask ask ask..

Questions in iterations are not that effective, the way of resolving doubts is to organize 1:1,

CRITICAL PATH

Be aware of the critical path. What aspect of what needs to be done are road blocks for other members of stakeholders?. try to pass the ball asap so other can commence their part.

SOT
PM has to be sure of where to find the right information (Assets, Specs or in the Mission resource folder)

HELP OTHERS TO HELP YOU

Simple always wins, please prepare yourself to be concise and clear so your manager can have the best chance at helping you. Avoid using complicated words, fillers (ehhh, ummmm); avoid using asumptions, I guess, I assume.,.. you either know or don’t know.

Prepare the activity with care, having in mid that the manager may have only few minutes to revise it.

FILL THE ITERATION PROPERLY

Timetracking

Subject: Overall activity (Modelling, Annotationk Design..)

Work Done: Brief description of the work done

Assignee, Observers: The responsible and whoever needs to be aware of it

Assignment: Work Done, Not Done, Questions, Time breakdown, Links (set them so they open in a new tab)

Iterations Docs Conventions

Actual Drawings Notes

  • Latest changes: Cloud in light grey
  • Subject to options: Cloud in light blue
  • Project Warnings: Cloud in Red, Note that warnings are notes to remain in the drawing so anyone using the set is aware of it. DO not use warnings for internal notes

  • Project Keynotes: Materials and FFE will be normally tag with keynotes, and the keynotes legend will be on the defaul ttbk, on the right side

Markups Conventions

  • Literal Text to be shown between “quotes”.
  • Use Clouds and write text outside building
  • Done workm, hightlight in yellow
  • Tagging Codes to be implemented
  • Elements: Prefix of building element abbreviation (WL.01, RF.34…)
  • FFE: Abbreviation (stv (meaning stove, frd (fridge), snk.1 (sink type 1)…
