Layout and Content

Checklist

  • Begin by placing keynotes and project notes (warning list) on the right side of the sheet.
  • Reserve space for these elements, allowing for adjustments during the project phase.
  • Set up floor plans at the top of the sheet.
  • Place axonometric views below the floor plans.
  • Frame a square area for elevations to create a cohesive flow.
  • Avoid placing floor plans directly against dimension marks to allow space for dimensions.
  • Position titles further down to maintain space for additional dimensions.
  • Show walls where cuts are made in the elevation views.
  • Avoid cutting through the same spot multiple times; vary the cut locations to show different elements.
  • Extend the elevation to show substrate and ceiling details.
  • Indicate ceiling cavities and slab levels to provide context for design changes.
  • Use red warnings to highlight areas needing further development or unresolved issues.
  • Use green clouds during construction to indicate changes on the sheet.
  • When making amendments, remove old clouds and add new ones, updating the revision number accordingly.
  • When rooms are related, set up the floor plans together to show connections, such as hidden doors.
  • Ensure all necessary elements, including axonometric views and elevations, are included before finalizing the sheet.
